The Bridge
2009 release from the Canadian RB singer/songwriter. Melanie's music is an eclectic yet glossy mix of tributes to the past and contemporary RB. Even before she released an album, she impressed Kanye West enough to be invited to be the opening act during Kanye's 2008 European tour! Universal.

Good CD! A little heavy on sampling though! (2010-07-21) : 4/5
I think this is a very solid effort for a debut. I love love love the vocal quality of her voice. Great style. Somewhat reminiscent of a retro Keysha Cole. I did not like that a few of the songs are basically old songs with new lyrics, such as "Give Me Right" being sampled from The Zombies' "Time of the Season". And the song "Teach Him" comes directly from the song "No Volvere" from the Gypsy Kings. (Beautiful guitar as is the case with many Gypsy Kings songs!!!)br /br /But I am looking forward to seeing more by this artist. It kills me is a gem of a song!
One hit (2010-07-17) : 3/5
I wished I had bought only the song "It kills me". I should have downloaded the MP3 single. I did not like any of the other songs on the cd.br /
The Bridge (2010-07-15) : 5/5
Melanie Fiona is a phenomenal artist and she gives me hope that the music industry could finally be getting. There's so much crap out there. Melanie's talent is head and shoulders above the rest of the field, hands down.
Great Artist (2010-05-16) : 5/5
I like the music. delivery was prompt. I play this cd in my car continually. i NEVER get tired of hearing this cd.
The BEST album I've ever heard. (2010-05-14) : 5/5
I'd give six stars if Amazon would let me. Without a doubt, this is the best album I have heard in my life! I have never listened to an album that was arranged so beautifully, sung so heartfelt and filled with so much originality and pizzazz. I literally bought this album on a whim. I knew nothing about Melanie Fiona. I was looking for a change and a fresh addition to my playlist. Her voice is breathtaking and clear. I've heard many RB artists who can sing well but who can't sing clearly. When listening to one of them, I need to visit a lyrics website to understand what is being said. This is my go to album when I need a pick me up. When I need music to encourage me to do a task, to feel brighter, or when I want to groove to an old school feeling album, I look nowhere else. I ecstatically await her sophomore album.
