All the hits (2010-03-04) : 5/5
This is every classic BTO tune in one package. If you like classic rock, you gotta have it.
Where is "Baking Carrot Biscuits?" (2010-01-14) : 4/5
I can't find any of BTO's albums with their greatest hit, "Baking Carrot Biscuits"! What's up with that? (You know, where the chorus goes "'I'll be Baking carrot biscuits ... every day ... baking carrot biscuits ... every way.")
excellent music with incredible energy (2010-01-14) : 5/5
Bachman-Turner Overdrive came out with some mighty awesome music in their time; and they still sound every bit as good today! While this CD could have included a couple more songs, it's still a good single CD compilation. The quality of the sound on this CD is excellent and I like the artwork although some of it is pretty standard for this CD series.br /br /"Gimme Your Money Please" starts the album with BTO doing a great rockin' song with excellent singing, guitars, drums and more to make this a strong opening tune for the album. "Blue Collar" has fine percussion and I really like their classic hit entitled "Takin' Care of Business." "Takin' Care of Business" still makes the airwaves sizzle and just one listen will tell you why! That beat and the way they do this with so much positive energy make "Takin' Care of Business" ageless.br /br /"Let It Ride" has a fine sound to it and that guitar work fits in perfectly; the music and the vocals fuse together and "Let It Ride" shines as a result! "Roll On Down the Highway" is yet another gem; Bachman-Turner Overdrive does "Roll On Down the Highway" with all their might and it's got enough electricity to light up an entire city! Listen also for Randy Bachman's guitar solo at the end of "Roll On Down the Highway;" it's amazing!br /br /"You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet" is an awesome song; this was a big hit for BTO back in the day and I still enjoy hearing it on the radio or when I play this CD! "Hey You" also has that signature Bachman-Turner Overdrive sound; they make this bright and they never miss a beat! I love it.br /br /"Take It Like a Man" makes fine use of guitars, drums and piano to make some excellent music that goes flawlessly with the lyrics to the song; this is a fine, classic rock tune that I think you're going to like if you haven't heard it already. "Looking Out for No.1" is a bit softer than the numbers on this CD; it showcases Bachman-Turner Overdrive's versatility and that's impressive. "Shotgun Rider" reverts back to a harder flavor rock for a song with some really fine lyrics about a man protecting a town out west; Bachman-Turner Overdrive makes this powerful with a faultless delivery and a melody that just plain sounds good, too.br /br /"I'm In Love" has a slightly softer rock flavor to it although it's not as soft as "Looking Out for No. 1;" and the CD ends strong with Bachman-Turner Overdrive performing "Heartaches." "Heartaches" explores a relationship that isn't exactly going smoothly; but in the capable hands of BTO this closing tune shines bright.br /br /Bachman-Turner Overdrive gave us so much; we're much better off for their having shared their talents with us. It's great to know that Randy Bachman and Fred Turner will be recording new music this year before going on a world tour starting with Sweden this June. In addition, I recommend this album for BTO fans as well as people just discovering the artistry of Bachman-Turner Overdrive. BTO fans may also want to consider more comprehensive CD sets including "Gold."
BTO (2010-01-09) : 5/5
I have been a big fan of Bachman, Turner Overdrive since I was a teenager. I still like their music and I am thorougly enjoying this CD. Although the music that I listened to are considered Golden Oldies, I still like to listen to my favorite groups. Since I cannot find those kinds of music in CD's except on Amazon.com, I purchase them when I can. I still have all of my LP's and 45's, but CD versions are better!
I'll have a BTO on rye. . . (2009-03-19) : 4/5
Man, did I enjoy the blue collar sound of Bachman-Turner Overdrive back in the day. Who didn't have one of BTO's 8-tracks blasting away, windows down, while cruising the streets of Small Town, USA? BTO furnished a rugged, fiercely independent Seventies sound which appealed to a generation of teens wanting a bit more than the Magical Mystery Tour. Although their guitar rifts tended to be a bit fuzzy, BTO rocked with a solid, hard-driving rhythm.br /br /Which is why I thoroughly enjoyed listening to this particular millennium collection of THE BEST OF BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE. Wow, what memories. Great songs, including "Let It Ride" and "Roll on Down the Highway." The delightfully clever "You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet." And now that it's become the musical staple of a national office supply chain, who hasn't heard "Takin' Care of Business"? br /br /Bell bottoms, clogs, love beads, shaggy hair, and Bachman-Turner Overdrive. Relive it all with this edition of THE BEST OF BACHMAN-TURNER OVERDRIVE. The Seventies are still rockin'. br /--D. Mikels, Author, The Reckoning
